Certificate II in Community Services - FIRST YEAR

Get prepared for employment in the fastest growing workforce sector with an introduction to community services and health. Learn about and develop skills for a wide range of jobs including community services, client care and support. This course gives completion of the Certificate II in Community Services at the end of the first year and partial completion of the Certificate III in Community Services at the end of the second year.

Must provide USI number at point of enrolment

Students will learn about the community services sector and explore specific contexts of work; they will develop skills in the communication, information provision and processing, administration support, networking and group support

Certificate II in Community Services is a portable qualification that can lead onto further training in the community services sector

Clothing which is suitable for program activities and in line with South West TAFE's dress code

Industry involvement

There is a strong industry involvement focus. Students are required to perform a work placement in the community services sector.

Contribution to the VCE

The VCE VET Community Services program provides a Unit 1-4 sequence for satisfactory completion purposes.Students undertaking this program are eligible for credit of up to five VCE VET units on their VCE Statement of Results: up to three units at Unit 1-2 level (depending on the electives chosen) and two units at 3-4 level. 

Students have the option to undertake scored assessment, and the study score can be fully counted as one of the student’s best four studies for ATAR purposes, or will count as a fifth or sixth study increment, if it is not one of the student’s four highest scores.

VCE VM students will complete a minimum of 180 nominal hours a year to obtain their senior secondary certificate.
